Outside of crossing the burning sands, joining a grad chapter could be the second most important decision you could make in regards to showing your commitment to your Black Greek Fraternity or Sorority. But, like with choosing an undergrad chapter, you can’t join any chapter all willy nilly.
There is nothing more energizing than seeing a fraternity or sorority release their Neos out onto the yard. Their energy is dangerously compelling. Their affinity to everything with Greek Life letters is hilariously astounding. But is their commitment to the cause as profound and deep as it needs to be? You won’t know until they ask these three questions:

The 2016 presidential race to the White House is heating up day by day and the conventions are definitely sparking some fire debates and discussions on our timelines. The Republican National Convention wrapped up last week, and this week it’s the Democrats time to shine. Earlier this year, I was blessed to find out that I would be speaking at THE Blogging While Brown Conference in Washington D.C . This two day event was a safe haven of high level blogging information, camaraderie and bonding among the best and brightest brown bloggers in the nation. I had a strong inkling I would find my Greek Life family there. I mean, really, when you think of a group of leaders, NPHC members are not far behind. And my inkling was dead on. In the past few weeks, America has once again experienced the atrocious aftermath of what happens when tainted race relations, corrupt policing and community discourse goes unsolved. The murder of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and 5 Dallas police officers has reignited our nation’s unresolved racial injustice issues and the backlash has been incredibly disheartening and disturbing. In an attempt to take action and bring our communities together, your favorite Black Greek Influencers have come together to put out a joint statement concerning crooked policing practices, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the role Divine Nine members can play in bridging the gap.
In case you missed it, Watch the Yard WENT IN this past weekend on Twitter. In a sea of intriguing trends, this one is the mother of all online Greek conversations. For a good hour, WTY had its Twitter trigga fingers ready with comments concerning Greek organizations, their purpose and the roles they play in today’s campus and community efforts. Truth spewed out of each tweet so fast, you could have hosted a Twitter sermon and every retweet would have been a “PREACH”.
One of my favorite observances is Black Music Month. Not that I don’t listen to “black music” during the rest of the year. Besides, our cultural influence is in pretty much all the major genres. But in this particular month, we get to highlight all the great contributers; our favorite musical movers and shakers of our time and the next. As of late, I’ve been jamming Asia Monqiue‘s Looking Glass EP like crazy. I was wondering how I could feature her in the blog just because, but I was like “this aint Greek related”. But as I did more research, I found out she is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. So here we are….featuring this pretty poodle and her amazing talent.
LADIES! Soooooooooooo if you’re anything like me, you might have felt frustrated when you go to sorority conferences, Greek picnics, and online greek life boutiques to look for dope paraphernalia only to find pieces that are boring, uninspiring or plain ol….well….ugly. OR you have BOOKOOS of random Greek stuff you can’t use much less match with anything in your house. And the things you DO love, you only use them once or twice a year – IF you go to a Sorority or Fraternity function. I know I’m not the only one, chil’.
